Let’s All Celebrate National FFA Week
February 20, 2021At Coastal, we’re honored to help support the FFA (Future Farmers of America) and all they do in developing agriculture’s future leaders and innovators. This year, National FFA Weeks takes place from February 20 – 27.
What is FFA?
FFA is a wonderful school-based national youth leadership development organization. There are more than 760,000 student members among 8,700 local FFA chapters in all 50 states. If you know someone in FFA, you know how dedicated these young men and women are to agriculture and the future of the industry as learn to become biologists, chemists, veterinarians, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
National FFA Week is a time when FFA members raise awareness about their organization, the future of ag, and the importance of agricultural education in our schools.
Take, for instance, the FFA chapter at Pleasant Hill High School in Oregon. While students were learning remotely, the high school, along with the FFA chapter, still offered agriculture classes focused on natural resources, wildlife management, animal science, horticulture, business management, ag related skills development, and leadership. This included competitions to hone student skills. It’s innovative ideas like these that will keep the future of agriculture going strong.
